Manual Enquiry Entry: Log Phone, Email and Referral Enquiries the Same Way as Online Ones

By Andrew Hemphill · 8 April 2026

Not every enquiry comes through your online enquiry form. Phone calls, emails, walk-ins, referrals — they all need to be tracked the same way so nothing slips. Puree now lets you log enquiries manually from anywhere, and they sit alongside your online submissions with a clear source badge so you can see at a glance how each lead arrived.

How It Works

Hit the + New enquiry button on the customer dashboard (or visit /enquiries/new directly) and you'll get a form with a few sections:

  • Source — pick where it came from: Phone call, Email, Referral, Walk-in, or Other. (Online isn't an option here — that's reserved for actual form submissions.)
  • Contact — name, email, phone, company if relevant.
  • Event — type, date, start time, guest count, location.
  • Service requirements — quick checkboxes for staff, hire equipment, and beverage service so you can flag the obvious extras.
  • Notes — anything from the conversation.

Save it and the enquiry lands in your Enquiries received list as an Active enquiry, ready to be processed into a quote just like an online one.

How It's Different from Online Enquiries

Online enquiries come in through one of your public enquiry forms. They include the IP address and user agent of the submitter, get tagged with the form name, and are marked with an Online source badge (sky blue) so you know they came from the web.

Manually-logged enquiries:

  • Carry the source you picked — Phone call (emerald), Email (violet), Referral (rose), Walk-in (amber), Other (gray).
  • Never show an Online badge or expose a form name on the enquiry show page.
  • Skip the form-question/response pipeline — the event details you typed are stored directly on the enquiry, and the show page surfaces them in the Enquiry Details panel.
  • Are still attached to a form behind the scenes (Puree needs one for storage) but it's never displayed.

Everything else is identical. Both kinds of enquiry show up in the same lists, both can be processed into quotes the same way, both can be marked Processed or Archived, both contribute to the count badges on the navigation.

Where Manual Enquiries Show Up

Once logged, a manual enquiry appears:

  • Enquiries received page — under New Enquiries until you process or archive it, with a coloured source pill in the Source column.
  • Customer dashboard → Active Enquiries panel — the most recent 20 active enquiries from the last 30 days, source-tagged.
  • Top navigation badge — the unread count alongside all online enquiries.

A Note on the Source Column

The Source column on the Enquiries Received page replaces what used to be the Form column. For online enquiries, you can still see which form they came from by hovering over the source pill — the tooltip shows the form name. For manual entries, the tooltip just says "Logged manually" because there is no form to point to.

No Setup Required

Available immediately on every account, provided you have at least one active enquiry form set up (Puree uses it to anchor the manual records — even if you don't actually publish the form anywhere).
