Add one-off items and custom packages to quotes on the fly β perfect for special requests, unique additions, or building a package from scratch without touching your catalogue.
Custom items (also called one-off items) are temporary items you can add directly to a quote without first creating them in your item catalogue. They're ideal for one-time requests β a bespoke dessert for a wedding, a specific piece of equipment the client has asked for, or a beverage you don't normally stock.
Custom items won't be saved to your permanent item list. They only exist on the quote they're added to.
When creating or editing a quote, go to the items page (step 2) and select the category you want to add an item to β Menu, Beverages, Equipment, or any other category. At the bottom of the item list you'll see a + Add one-off item button.
Click it and fill in the details:
The item is added to the quote immediately and behaves just like any catalogue item β it appears on the printed quote, in dockets, and in all reports.
Sometimes you need to build a package from scratch for a specific event rather than using a pre-configured one. One-off packages let you create a custom package directly on the quote without adding it to your permanent package list.
On the items page of the quote, click the Packages tab. You'll see a Create one-off package button alongside your regular packages. Click it to open the package modal.
Fill in the package details:
The package starts empty. Use the Add Extra Items search to find items from your catalogue and add them, or click + Add one-off item to create custom items directly inside the package. Once you're happy, click Add to Order.
Regular packages can also accept additional items beyond what's pre-configured β if the package has the Allow additional items setting enabled. This is useful when a client wants the standard package but with a few extras thrown in.
Go to Items β Packages, edit the package you want to modify, and tick the Allow additional items checkbox. Once enabled, users adding this package to a quote will see the option to search for extra items or add one-off items within that package.
When adding a package that allows additional items, the package modal will show the standard package contents along with an Add Extra Items section. From here you can:
Additional items are tracked separately from the package's template items. The package price covers the pre-configured items, while additional items carry their own pricing.
Custom items appear on the quote just like any other item β under their respective categories and menu headers. There's no visible difference to the customer between a catalogue item and a custom item, so your quotes stay clean and professional.
